Tripura Plans High-Tech Scanning at Assam Border

Agartala: Tripura officials are plotting a tech upgrade for the Churaibari check post. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy confirmed on September 8 that the government intends to install advanced scanners along the Assam-Tripura border. This gear will track cargo and log driver data without forcing trucks to sit in long lines. It keeps things moving.

The data heads straight to the Agartala headquarters in real-time. Minister Singha Roy noted that the shift away from old-school check posts follows the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax. He said, "We are exploring a system where vehicles can be scanned without disturbing or unnecessarily stopping them." The system should also help police sniff out illegal cargo crossing state lines.

The minister shared these plans at a Pragna Bhavan event while launching four new modules for the NextGen HRMS. This HR platform handles everything from onboarding and payroll to pensions for state employees. Chief Minister Manik Saha has pushed to digitize government work from the Legislative Assembly down to the local Panchayat level. The state claims this e-Office push is clearing bureaucratic hurdles and getting benefits to people faster.
