Agartala: Tripura marked Antyodaya Diwas this week by pushing technology into the state's most isolated corners. The event celebrated Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's birth anniversary and kicked off the Ekdunia Antyodaya Digital Mission. Officials want to cut the travel time for rural residents who currently trek to towns for basic government paperwork.
Organizers handed out tablets to trained volunteers known as AI Maa. These locals will act as digital guides for villagers. They will help people navigate healthcare portals, education sites, and various welfare schemes. The mission bridges the gap between urban hubs and remote homes.
Malay Pit, founder of the Ekdunia Antyodaya Mission and president of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, spoke at the event. He explained that the mission focuses on those who need it most. "The concept of Antyodaya centred on reaching the most vulnerable sections of society and standing beside them," Pit stated. Volunteers will support village women, the elderly, and youth with consistent, on-demand assistance.
Key local figures attended the launch, including Social Education and Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy and Tripura University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr) Debabrata Das. West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil and District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar also joined the proceedings. The project aims to use tech to boost convenience rather than replace local human support systems. Organizers plan to make these digital tools a standard part of everyday village life.
