Emergency Crew Delivers Healthy Baby in Dhalai Ambulance

Agartala: A 24-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy inside a moving ambulance on Friday. Katalbi Tripura, from Shibram Para in Haripur, was being transferred from Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Hospital to Dhalai District Hospital.

The trip began at 5:05 pm. Near the 8 Mile area outside Ambassa, her labor pain intensified. Driver Bishnu Rung Reang pulled the vehicle over. Suren Tripura, the Emergency Medical Technician on board, took charge. He delivered the 2.8 kg infant on the roadside.

Both mother and child arrived at Dhalai District Hospital in stable condition. Officials say this is not a one-off event. Bhavatosh Das, District Inspector of 102 Ambulance Services, noted that trained EMTs have handled over a hundred such births in the district. Das urged the public to rely on the service for emergencies. He stated, "public awareness and cooperation can help ensure that patients receive emergency support without delay."
