Agartala: Tripura officials took the stage at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi this Thursday to detail a massive health sector overhaul. The event, Arogya Manthan 2026, celebrated eight years of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and National Health Authority CEO Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal led the proceedings.
State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte presented Tripura’s plan for the Integrated Health Management Information System. He aims to kill off paper-based workflows. The goal is a connected ecosystem linking doctors, nurses, labs, and pharmacies. The state set October 31, 2026, as the final deadline to finish this digital transformation across every district facility. This includes district hospitals, sub-divisional centers, and primary health units.
The system will use ABHA identification and standardized registries to keep patient records consistent across the state. It intends to cut waiting times and improve emergency responses. Gitte stressed that the tech must be practical. He said, "The real measure of success would not merely be the launch of digital services or platforms, but their effective and meaningful utilisation across the health system."
Work on infrastructure and staff training is already underway in all eight districts. Officials believe this foundation will eventually support advanced tools like AI and clinical decision-support systems. They want a uniform framework to stop fragmented data. The project relies on consent-based exchange to keep patient information both private and accessible.
