Agartala: Joint Secretary T. Thakur Khalkho arrived in Tripura for a three-day inspection. She stopped at the Unakoti District Mission Management Unit on Friday to vet women-run livelihood programs. TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma and District Magistrate Megha Jain joined her to tour the local facilities. The group inspected the Packaging Unit, a USHA-backed Training Centre, and an Aggregation Centre. They also checked on the Sanjog Canteen and the Sampanna natural farming project.
Khalkho spent the day talking with Self-Help Group members. She watched how these women use skill training and value addition to build stable incomes. The visit aimed to see how collective action strengthens rural economies. Khalkho praised the women for their grit. She stated, "The initiatives reflect the broader goals of the National Rural Livelihood Mission, which seeks to empower women through collective action and entrepreneurship."
These projects focus on natural farming and diversified trade. They want to move beyond basic work. The delegation assessed how TRLM support impacts household stability across the region. Local stakeholders now expect more support for these programs. The visit provided a clear look at how women are reshaping the rural economy in Tripura.
