Agartala: Tripura officials launched the AI Utsav 2026 program this Thursday. The initiative targets students from classes VI to XII in 1,920 government schools across all eight districts of the state. It provides free access to artificial intelligence courses via the Skill India Digital Hub, the national platform run by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Students earn national certificates upon finishing the coursework. Skill Development Director Pradeep Krishnaraj says the program helps youth grasp new tech early. "The programme seeks to encourage students to gain an understanding of emerging technologies at an early age, build digital confidence and develop skills needed to adapt to an increasingly technology-driven world," he said.
Tripura is also building a new framework for the India Skills Competition. This project matches the global WorldSkills ecosystem to train local talent. Officials identified 26 specific skill areas for this training. The list includes graphic design, software development, web and mobile apps, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and automobile technologies. It also covers Industry 4.0, electronics, electrical installations, digital construction, ICT network infrastructure, and mechanical engineering CAD.
Four local institutions provide end-to-end support for these candidates. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), MSME Tool Room and Training Centre, and NIELIT Agartala handle everything from initial screening to training and mentoring. The state intends to strengthen its talent pipeline through these efforts.
