Agartala: Jyotsna Nama turned four kani of land in Satnala village into a high-earning operation. She now runs a multi-stream farming enterprise in Dasda block. Her model blends poultry, dairy, goat rearing, paddy, fishery, and vegetable patches into one profitable system. She clears a net annual profit of approximately Rs 2.5 lakh.
The success started in April 2024. Nama joined the Deo Valley Farmers Producer Company Ltd and entered the Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme. Growing Seed ran the training. They focused on livestock techniques and mentorship. These skills helped her link traditional methods with modern science.
NABARD recognized her work on July 15, 2026. The agency honored Nama during its 45th Foundation Day and International Year of the Woman Farmer celebrations. Officials cited her drive as a blueprint for rural resilience. A representative from Growing Seed noted the achievement, stating, "Nama's journey reaffirms the importance of empowering farmers through skill development, market access, and scientific techniques."
Her work now serves as a local example for other women. Stakeholders want more farmers to copy these methods. It stabilizes rural income streams. Nama shows how institutional backing changes lives in Tripura.
