Agartala: Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath opened the Betchara Rural Market on Monday. The facility sits in the Kumarghat subdivision of the Unakoti district. This project cost Rs 2.20 crore. It aims to help farmers and traders get fair prices for crops while fueling the local economy.
Nath used the event to highlight ongoing infrastructure upgrades. The state government started this push back in 2018. Officials plan to develop 204 rural markets by 2026. This massive plan carries a total budget of Rs 461.83 crore. It represents a major move to fix agricultural infrastructure across the region.
The minister spoke about the government goals for village growth. He wants to lift up the farming community. "Every step we take to strengthen agricultural markets is an investment in the prosperity of our villages and the dignity of our farmers," Nath said. He believes the new hub will help small entrepreneurs.
Locals showed support for the move. They hope to cut out middlemen and find better ways to sell goods. The market provides a central spot for business and trade. It serves as a base for future rural development in the area.
