Agartala: E-rickshaw drivers in Tripura turned up the heat on Friday. They staged an indefinite road blockade in the Tillabazar area of Unakoti district. The protest effectively stalled traffic near the main road. The drivers want immediate repairs for the Kailashahar-Rangaouti and Tillabazar-Irani routes. These roads have sat in pieces for months.

Protesters parked their vehicles across the tarmac to force the administration to listen. Large stretches of these paths feature deep potholes and torn-up surfaces. The drivers claim the state of the road puts both commuters and workers at constant risk. One protester stated, "Accidents are waiting to happen every day."

This is a repeat performance. The drivers previously blocked roads in Tillabazar, but officials failed to fix the damage. Frustrated by the lack of results, they resumed their agitation. The group now demands that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate personally ride an e-rickshaw from Tillabazar to Dakbangla. They believe this trip will force the official to see the road conditions firsthand.

Police and local administrators scrambled to the scene to pacify the crowd. Despite the intervention, the drivers refuse to clear the blockade. They will keep their vehicles on the road until they receive a formal, ironclad guarantee that the repair work will finally start.
