Agartala: Minister Tinku Roy inspected the neglected Srirampur-Golakpur road on Thursday morning. The project sits in the Chandipur Assembly constituency within Unakoti district. He brought department officials along for the site visit. Work stalled years ago despite the tender being issued.

Roy blamed the delay on contractor negligence and interference from local politically influential individuals. Legal complications blocked progress for a long time. The state government resolved these issues and officially cleared the construction to move forward. Work begins soon.

"The government plans to construct drains on both sides of the road to prevent waterlogging and protect the road from damage during the rainy season," Roy said. Authorities consulted local residents to ensure smooth project execution. Officials requested full cooperation from the public to finish the job. Commuters hope the construction ends their long-standing hardship.
