Tripura Cabinet Approves Over 1,500 New Jobs and University Bill

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and his cabinet authorized a massive hiring spree on Thursday. Officials gave the green light for 305 newly created jobs and the recruitment of 1,277 people across state departments. Transport Minister and cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury announced the plan.

The Home Department will lead the hiring with 916 male and female constable spots for the Tripura Police. Candidates face physical, written, and oral tests. Chowdhury noted, "The state cabinet approved the direct recruitment of 916 male and female constables in the Tripura Police under the Home Department."

The Health and Family Welfare Department will hire 219 Lower Division Clerks. These roles go through the Tripura Joint Recruitment Board. Meanwhile, the General Administration Department will fill 27 Group-C technical slots. These include roles for chargemen, machine men, and binders. The Tribal Welfare Department will also add 15 fixed-pay staff, including LDCs and multi-tasking workers.

New infrastructure is coming. The cabinet created 105 posts for four Government Railway Police stations in Bishramganja, Udaipur, Belonia, and Sabroom. Positions cover everything from sub-inspectors to drivers. Higher education gets a boost with 200 new assistant professor posts, though officials have yet to trigger the hiring process for those specific roles.

Lawmakers also passed the Shri Shri University, Tripura Bill, 2026. This institution will sit in Sepahijala district. It plans to offer degrees ranging from certificates to PhDs and post-doctoral work. The school will cover diverse fields including engineering, AYUSH, yoga, and medical sciences.

The cabinet broke down the 105 new roles for the railway police stations. The lineup includes 3 sub-inspectors, 11 women sub-inspectors, 9 assistant sub-inspectors, 21 women head constables, 56 women constables, and 5 constable drivers.

Regarding the incoming higher education institution, the cabinet confirmed the Ravishankar Trust will manage the project. The facility, tagged as Sri Sri University, will sit in Bishalgarh. It aims to grant honorary degrees like D.Litt and D.Sc alongside its standard academic programs.

Technical roles under the General Administration Department include specific titles such as chargeman retouching, chargeman offset machine, copy holder, and Kokborok copy holder.
