Agartala: The Tripura government launched a new oversight plan on July 17. The General Administration department named eight Guardian Ministers to supervise the state's districts. Ministers now hold direct responsibility for monitoring local development and coordinating state programs.

This initiative bridges administrative gaps. Officials said the move aims to ensure that welfare schemes reach citizens more efficiently. These ministers will review project progress and handle public grievances in the field.

The ministers will partner with district administrations, MLAs, Zilla Parishads, and Panchayat Samitis to speed up welfare work. State officials stated that the measure is designed to enhance monitoring mechanisms and promote balanced development. By embedding ministerial oversight at the local level, the government seeks to fix administrative bottlenecks.

Responsibility is split across the state. Santana Chakma oversees North Tripura, while Sushanta Chowdhury takes Unakoti. Bikash Debbarma manages Dhalai. Ratan Lal Nath covers Khowai. Pranajit Singha Roy handles West Tripura. Kishore Barman is assigned to Sepahijala. Animesh Debbarma manages Gomati, and Brishaketu Debbarma leads South Tripura. The government believes this step marks a renewed emphasis on district-focused governance, "reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusive growth and responsive administration."
