Agartala: The Tripura government has assigned a Guardian Minister to every one of the state's eight districts. A formal notification from the General Administration Department dated July 17 officially launched this oversight plan. The move places Cabinet Ministers directly in charge of monitoring development, fixing administrative gaps, and ensuring government programs actually reach citizens.

These ministers act as the government's eyes and ears on the ground. They must review project progress, supervise flagship schemes, and address public grievances. Ministers work with local administrations, MLAs, Zilla Parishads, and Panchayat Samitis to keep operations moving. Officials state the move aims to strengthen the framework of governance. They want to ensure balanced development across the state through closer ministerial oversight.

The specific district assignments are set. Santana Chakma takes North Tripura. Sushanta Chowdhury oversees Unakoti. Bikash Debbarma manages Dhalai, while Ratan Lal Nath covers Khowai. Pranajit Singha Roy handles West Tripura. Kishore Barman runs Sepahijala. Animesh Debbarma leads in Gomati, and Brishaketu Debbarma manages South Tripura. The government believes this strategy will improve coordination and push faster service delivery. As officials noted, the measure is designed to "enhance monitoring mechanisms, foster inter-departmental coordination, and promote balanced development across all districts."
