Agartala: NLU Tripura took control of grassroots governance strategy at a statewide workshop in Agartala. Officials gathered at the State Panchayat Resource Centre in A.D. Nagar to conduct a final evaluation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan for 2026 to 2027. This work supports an ongoing project providing handholding support to village committees and panchayats across the state.

Technical teams audited draft plans for 713 Gram Panchayats and Village Committees. These entities span five districts: Dhalai, Unakoti, North Tripura, Khowai, and South Tripura. Experts reviewed these documents to fill gaps and ensure the schemes meet local needs. This session represents the second phase of a broader initiative involving deep field work at various blocks and committees.

Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, led the inaugural session alongside Dr. Anurag Sen, Joint Director of the Department of Rural Development. The partnership began with a 2024 agreement. Prof. Singh noted, "The final evaluation is expected to refine the draft plans further and facilitate their smooth rollout at the grassroots level."

Over 600 people attended. This group included local representatives, faculty from the resource centre, and university mentors. The collaboration aims to make village planning participatory and efficient.
