Agartala: The Tripura government is shaking up its administration. It has appointed Guardian Ministers for every one of the state's eight districts. The July 17 mandate from the General Administration Department forces Cabinet Ministers to leave the capital and get on the ground. They must supervise development projects and fix service gaps.

Ministers are now official state representatives for their regions. They must meet with MLAs, Zilla Parishads, and Panchayat Samitis to push welfare programs forward. Chief Minister Manik Saha demanded immediate accountability. He wants detailed oversight of flagship schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

District assignments are set. Santana Chakma and Shukla Charan Noatia take North Tripura. Sushanta Chowdhury oversees Unakoti. Ratan Lal Nath covers Dhalai, while Tinku Roy watches Khowai. Pranajit Singha Roy handles West Tripura. Bikash Debbarma manages Sepahijala. Kishor Barman and Animesh Debbarma oversee Gomati. Sudhangshu Das and Brishaketu Debbarma look after South Tripura.

Ministers must visit their districts at least once a month. They will inspect works, talk to District Magistrates, and verify scheme saturation levels. Saha said, "all guardian ministers have been directed to conduct regular inspections of development works undertaken by various departments, including those under his own charge." These leaders must submit monthly reports directly to the Chief Minister. This move aims to force balanced development across the state by bridging the gap between local officials and the cabinet.
