Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha took aim at the Congress party on Sunday, August 16. He claimed many Congress leaders fail to grasp the historical weight of the national song Vande Mataram. The song fueled courage and sacrifice during the Indian freedom struggle. It remains a pillar of national pride.
Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for marking the 150th anniversary of the song. He noted that the commemoration helps the country remember how the anthem inspired mass enthusiasm. The Chief Minister stated, "Many Congress leaders appeared to lack a proper understanding of the historical importance of Vande Mataram."
The Chief Minister also targeted the opposition for their behavior in Parliament. He argued that while parties have a right to participate in government, constant disruptions after avoiding debate send a bad message. He claimed such conduct reveals the true mindset of the parties involved.
Looking toward state progress, Saha labeled Tripura's youth its greatest asset. He pushed for more technology-based resources to help students prepare for competitive exams. He urged the state to leverage these human resources to speed up development.

Beyond politics, Saha turned his focus to the local club scene while attending a blood donation camp held by the Mukti Sangha in Ramnagar. He noted a shift in how clubs operate, stating, "There was a time when chaotic scenes of disputes involving clubs were a normal thing. Now, visible changes have come in the club culture." The Chief Minister challenged these organizations to move away from past friction and lean into social responsibility by steering youth toward sports and creative outlets to build a drug-free society. During the event, he also handed over a hearse van to the club funded by the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
Touting his administration's record, the Chief Minister claimed Tripura has emerged as a frontrunner in NITI Aayog evaluations and earned national recognition in the Panchayat sector. He pointed to the Ayushman Bharat scheme for expanding surgical access for complex diseases and highlighted the use of drones and modern cameras to modernize the city's drainage system, effectively cutting down on recurring water-logging issues.
