Congress Clashes With Kangana Ranaut Over Vande Mataram Remarks

Shillong: Congress leaders fired back at BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday. The spat ignited after Ranaut compared the party to Pakistan over a Vande Mataram row. The controversy started at Congress headquarters during Independence Day. Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi faced scrutiny during the national song rendition.

Ranaut visited a Mumbai temple and took aim at her political rivals. She claimed the opposition showed intense hatred toward the anthem. "I would say that even people in Pakistan may not show such a reaction," she told IANS. She went on to label the Congress party as anti-national.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate did not hold back. She suggested the BJP needs to intervene. "The BJP itself does not take her seriously. I repeatedly pray to God to keep her healthy. I want to say through this platform that she should consult a good doctor," Shrinate stated. She insisted Ranaut is growing increasingly unwell.

MP Imran Pratapgarhi joined the attack. He questioned Ranaut on her grip on history. He reminded the public that Ranaut previously claimed India only gained independence in 2014. Pratapgarhi pointed to the long history of Congress leaders fighting the British. He challenged the BJP to stop using political theater to push their agenda. He urged Ranaut to read books on the freedom struggle instead of insulting the party's legacy.
