Kohima: Nagaland BJP officials went on the attack August 11 in Dimapur. They accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of playing politics of convenience. The state party unit challenged Gandhi to debate student issues in Parliament instead of spreading falsehoods. They claim he disrupts legislative proceedings to push a fake narrative.
State Vice President Basu Damani condemned the JMM-Congress coalition government in Jharkhand. Police in Ranchi used lathi-charges, tear gas, water cannons, and barbed wire against peaceful students protesting for jobs and recruitment reform. Damani claimed the state government treated protesters, including women, with unnecessary brutality. He demanded the Jharkhand administration immediately address the students' needs.
State Secretary Therali Ezung targeted Gandhi for his silence on the Ranchi violence. She contrasted his quick reaction to protests at Jantar Mantar with his refusal to acknowledge police atrocities in states governed by his own party. Ezung said, "Where his government commits police atrocities, he adopts a stone silence, and where he has to bake his political bread, he creates a completely fake narrative."
Vice President Zaremo Kikon addressed claims Gandhi made on August 10. Kikon defended the central government against accusations regarding NEET and paper leaks. He insisted the center already passed stronger laws to stop cheating. Kikon noted that the Union Home Minister is ready to answer questions on the House floor. He slammed the opposition for blocking parliamentary work. Dismissing reports of violence at Jantar Mantar, Kikon said, "Not a single bullet was fired at Jantar Mantar. Rahul Gandhi, stop lying." He demanded that the Congress leader show up for the debate to settle the facts.
