BJP Overhauls National Team, Keeps Sambit Patra on North-East Duty

Imphal: The Bharatiya Janata Party shuffled its national team today. The party kept Dr. Sambit Patra as the North-East coordinator while picking Rajiv Babbar as the new joint coordinator for the region. National president Nitin Nabin signed off on the move. These changes hit the books immediately.

The party is moving to sharpen its influence across all eight states in the North-East. Patra keeps his grip on the region during a volatile time. Manipur remains a pressure point for the leadership. Officials say the reshuffle is part of a larger plan to fix the central organisational machinery. This includes shifting national vice-presidents, general secretaries, and secretaries into fresh roles.

Babbar enters the fold to bridge the gap between central command and local units. The party described the shift as a bid to "strengthen its organisational presence across the region amid complex political developments." With Patra leading and Babbar on the ground, the BJP expects a tighter grip on its regional operations.
