Tripura Congress Plans Week-Long Protests Over Alleged Corruption

Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Congress is launching a week-long protest across the state starting August 5. Party officials demand a white paper on all public expenditures. They want transparency now.

Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty announced the campaign during a Monday press conference at Congress Bhavan in Agartala. The party plans to stage three-hour sit-ins and mass demonstrations at district and subdivision headquarters. They are also targeting other densely populated areas throughout Tripura.

Chakraborty accused the state government and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council of widespread corruption. The party insists that officials must account for how public funds are spent. If the government ignores this demand for a white paper, the Congress will draft a formal chargesheet listing the alleged irregularities.

Chakraborty warned that the fight is far from over. "The chargesheet will be taken to the people, and the government will be forced to answer the allegations raised in it," he said. The party plans to expand its campaign to highlight issues involving governance and accountability. These protests target the BJP-led government and the TTAADC administration.
