Agartala: Tripura’s three-day monsoon session kicks off tomorrow, August 27, at 11:00 AM. Lawmakers have a heavy agenda. They face a packed schedule of urgent public business and high-stakes government briefings.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will command the floor regarding the recent suicide of former Director General of Police Anurag Dhankhar. Holding the Home portfolio, Saha plans to detail the death and government response. The session opens with obituary references for prominent figures before shifting to the Business Advisory Committee report.
The House will tackle 22 starred questions for oral reply and 13 unstarred questions requiring written responses. Lawmakers are ready to grill the administration. Opposition leaders brought specific grievances to the table: Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman will challenge the state on electricity supply, while Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury will focus on the teacher shortage. Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma plans to address concerns over the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate.
Legislative business remains dense. Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy will present amendments to the Tripura State Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Finally, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma will lay out annual reports for the Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation covering the 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 financial years.
