Agartala: Tripura observed the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on Friday. State officials and BJP leaders gathered for separate events to honor the late thinker. The main government programme took place at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala. The Information and Cultural Affairs Department organized the event.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha led the tribute. He offered floral homage to a portrait of Upadhyaya. Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, and ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya joined the ceremony. Local corporators and members of the public also attended.
Dr. Saha praised Upadhyaya as a visionary philosopher. He emphasized the leader's contribution to Indian social and political thought. The Chief Minister focused on the principle of Antyodaya. This concept prioritizes the welfare of people at the last mile of society. “Guided by his ideals and philosophy, the government is working towards the holistic development of every section of society,” Dr. Saha said.
A second event occurred at the Tripura Pradesh BJP headquarters. Party leaders held a solemn tribute ceremony that morning. State Vice-President Ratan Ghosh, General Secretary Chandan Debnath, and Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta participated. Sadar District President Asim Bhattacharjee also attended.
Speakers at both locations lauded Upadhyaya’s simple lifestyle and patriotism. They highlighted his doctrine of Integral Humanism. Party members pledged to use these teachings to drive social harmony and uplift the marginalized. The gatherings concluded with renewed commitments to his vision of inclusive development.
