Agartala: Tripura officials must pick up the pace. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury ordered an immediate speed-up of all ongoing state tourism projects during the 40th meeting of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation board on August 11. He wants work done on time.
The minister demanded upgrades to visitor facilities at historical and natural hotspots. Plans under review include the Matabari Circuit Project, the Dumbur Reservoir, and the Amarsagar Lake. Officials also discussed adding floating restaurants to Neermahal and Chobimura to attract more visitors.
Construction crews are currently renovating tourist lodges across the state. Chowdhury said, "Development works should be completed within the stipulated timelines." He also demanded a full audit of the corporation's income and expenditures to keep the money side of the operation transparent.
Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Prashant Badal Negi provided updates on project statuses. Other high-level officials joined the session at the Secretariat, including Finance Secretary PK Goel, Forest Conservator RK Samal, and Chief Architect Anup Kumar Das. Hena Debbarma from the Home Department was also present to help push the plan forward.
