Nagaland Launches Reform Utsav to Drive Local Development

Kohima: Nagaland officials launched Reform Utsav and the Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2027-28 on October 2. The program rolled out across Wokha, Kohima, Phek, and Mokokchung. It operates under the theme Sabki Yojana, Sabki Vikas. Officials aimed to connect residents directly with government services.

Wokha Village hosted an ADC-led event. ADC Renbomo Ezung emphasized the government's need for local insight. "The programme was as it enabled the government to understand citizens’ problems, stressing that people were best placed to identify their own needs." The campaign follows a three-stage structure. It includes Jan Manthan for discovery, Vimarsh for deliberation, and Jan Samadhan for delivery. CMO Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung pushed residents to sign up for health schemes.

Kohima DC B. Henok Buchem spoke at the Village Council Hall. He demanded inclusive planning for youth, women, and the disabled. He asked departments to build better roads, water systems, and schools. Presentations in Kohima came from the Power and Food and Civil Supplies departments.

Phek held a session at Middle Khomi Village with DC Rhosietho Ngouri. Ten departments including Agriculture and PHED presented their services to the public. Mokokchung launched the program at the Rural Assembly Hall in Ungma Village. SDO(C) Ajay Moktan chaired the event. Officials there held a Jan Samvad consultation to bridge the gap between villagers and department heads.
