Jitendra Chaudhury Slams Tripura BJP Over Governance and Job Claims

Agartala: Tripura Opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury attacked the ruling BJP on September 1. He claims the state suffers under a mafia and commission-run government. Chaudhury, who also serves as the CPI(M) state secretary, spoke at a mass gathering at Agartala's Swami Vivekananda Maidan. He accused the ruling party of stripping citizens of their democratic rights.

The event marked the start of a three-day All India Kisan Sabha state conference. Organizers reported that officials stopped participant vehicles and threatened to cut government benefits for those attending. Despite these threats, crowds arrived. "Despite these obstacles, farmers, Jhum cultivators, agricultural workers, women and common people have turned up in large numbers. After nearly five and a half years, this conference is being held under unusual circumstances," Chaudhury said.

Chaudhury blasted the BJP for treating Tripura as a political laboratory. He argues the Constitution carries no weight in the state today. The leader further questioned job data provided by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. Officials claim 22,000 regular hires and 26,000 outsourced jobs were created. Chaudhury doubts these numbers. He wants to know why schools, hospitals, and government offices still lack staff.
