Agartala: The Tripura BJP cracked down on internal dissent today. State general secretary Bhagaban Chandra Das issued a formal show-cause notice to Mahatwa Ranjan Chakma, the general secretary of the 49-Chawmanu Mandal in Dhalai district. The party accused Chakma of spearheading anti-party campaigns that damaged the organization's reputation.

Leadership claims Chakma tried to sway other party functionaries to quit the BJP entirely. These actions sparked frustration among local workers. Party officials stated the move is meant to maintain discipline and get the facts, noting: "The notice, according to the party, seeks an explanation from Chakma as part of efforts to maintain party discipline and ascertain the facts and circumstances behind the allegations."

The state BJP president directed the action. The party remains focused on protecting its image following these reports of internal sabotage.
