Agartala: National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar started her three-day trip to Tripura this Tuesday. The visit began with a high-level session at the State Guest House. Rahatkar met with Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy to talk about women's rights and social leadership.
Rahatkar travels to Udaipur on Wednesday. She will join the Gomati Zilla Parishad’s She Serves programme. The itinerary includes an inspection of the local One Stop Centre. She will also speak at Rajarshi Hall during an awareness event regarding the social impact of child marriage. Minister Tinku Roy and MLA Abhishek Debroy are expected to attend these sessions. Following these events, Rahatkar will meet with district police and administrative officials to review safety and welfare protocols.
Her schedule for July 30 includes a tour of Agartala Central Jail. She plans to meet with the state’s Acting Director General of Police and other senior officers. Later that day, she will attend a city hotel event focused on preventing stalking. Tripura Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma confirmed the plans at a press conference alongside Vice Chairperson Madhumita Choudhury and Member Secretary Pallabi Roy.
Rahatkar will launch the Tripura State Women’s Commission official website. Her tour finishes with a workshop at Sukanta Academy on preventing sexual harassment at work. Jharna Debbarma noted: "Rahatkar will visit Udaipur on Wednesday to participate in the Gomati Zilla Parishad’s She Serves programme."
