NCW Chief Vijaya Rahatkar Begins Three-Day Tripura Tour

Agartala: National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar arrived in Tripura on Tuesday for a three-day tour focused on local women's rights and social development. She started her trip with a high-level session at the State Guest House in Agartala. Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy joined her for the talk, titled Interaction with Women Representatives and Women Activists. The duo reviewed strategies to boost female leadership and social participation.

Rahatkar travels to Udaipur on Wednesday. She will attend the Gomati Zilla Parishad She Serves program and visit a local One Stop Centre. She also plans a public talk at Rajarshi Hall regarding child marriage. Minister Tinku Roy and MLA Abhishek Debroy will accompany her. The day finishes with a security review meeting involving police and district officials.

On July 30, Rahatkar will inspect the Agartala Central Jail before sitting down with the Acting Director General of Police. She will then attend a seminar on stalking prevention and launch the Tripura State Women’s Commission website. Her final stop is a workshop at Sukanta Academy centered on preventing sexual harassment at work. Tripura Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma confirmed the schedule alongside Vice Chairperson Madhumita Choudhury and Member Secretary Pallabi Roy. Regarding the mission, officials noted the aim is to "explore strategies to protect women’s rights, foster leadership among women, and ensure their stronger role in social development."
