Agartala: Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy issued a sharp warning on Sunday. He told Anganwadi workers to stay at their posts. Abandoning duties to join demonstrations during work hours is off-limits. Roy spoke during a review meeting held at the Secretariat.
Anganwadi centers provide essential care to local children and mothers. Interruptions hurt those who need help most. The Minister demanded these services continue without breaks. “If workers are found neglecting their responsibilities and shutting down centres to participate in demonstrations, necessary measures will be taken against them,” he said.
The government knows about the grievances filed by the workers. Roy confirmed his department reviewed these written complaints multiple times. Officials promise to handle the issues through dialogue rather than chaos. Even so, the state will not tolerate the shutdown of facilities.
Local residents worry that strikes block nutrition and childhood development programs. Roy ordered department officials to track complaints about closures. Anyone caught shirking their duties faces consequences. The administration aims to balance worker concerns with its duty to provide steady public services.

The minister confirmed these remarks come amid ongoing protests by several groups of Anganwadi workers pressing for various service-related demands.
