Agartala: The Kailashahar First Class Court forced the local police to explain their failure to register a case against Minister Tinku Roy. Judge Ranjabati Roy issued the directive on August 6 after Congress leaders pushed for accountability. The court ordered the Kailashahar police officer-in-charge to appear in person on September 15. The officer must provide a written report detailing if they filed a General Diary entry or conducted an investigation.

Congress leaders allege Roy submitted a fake Class XII certificate from an invalid Madhya Pradesh board during the 2023 Assembly elections. They also claim he hid a pending criminal case from his nomination papers. Chandrashekhar Sinha filed an official complaint at the Kailashahar police station on December 9, 2025. He provided records from the West Agartala police station to support his claims. The police ignored that filing and a follow-up request to the Unakoti Superintendent of Police in January 2026.

Congress MLA Birajit Sinha celebrated the order alongside lawyer Nar Singh Das and local party officials. Birajit Sinha noted the ruling proves that “law is equal for all and no one is above it.” The court case began on April 17 and involved three sessions before the judge stepped in. Lawyer Nar Singh Das blamed the inaction on former Unakoti SP Sudhambika R and Kailashahar OC Sukanta Sen Choudhury. The party threatened to take the case to the Tripura High Court if authorities fail to punish the officers involved.
