Shillong: Meghalaya election officials are sprinting to update the state electoral rolls. They have distributed enumeration forms to nearly 85 percent of registered voters. The Election Department reports that 19,91,883 out of 23,49,645 electors have received their forms, hitting 84.77 percent coverage. Digitization is moving much slower. Only 5,64,610 forms have hit the system, leaving over 17 lakh forms waiting for upload.

West Jaintia Hills leads form distribution at 98.94 percent. South West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills follow closely behind. East Jaintia Hills leads the state in digitization at 41.55 percent. The state currently sits at roughly 24 percent for overall digitization.

Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari is holding weekly video conferences with District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. These meetings focus on fixing bottlenecks for Booth Level Officers. Officials must complete the task on a strict schedule set by the Election Commission of India. Tiwari recently met with members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly at the MLA Hostel in Shillong to explain the objectives and timelines.

The CEO appealed to the public to cooperate with door-to-door staff. He stated, "The CEO has also been conducting regular weekly video conferences with District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to monitor the progress of house-to-house distribution and digitisation of enumeration forms." Booth Level Officers are on the ground now. Residents who have not received forms should contact their local representative immediately.
