Agartala: Devotees gathered at the Durga Bari grounds this Friday to observe the Kathamo Khili Puja. This ancient ritual marks the formal start of idol construction for the Sharadotsav festival. Priests used prescribed mantras and offerings to sanctify the bamboo framework. The wooden structure serves as the foundation for the divine image of Goddess Durga.
Construction work starts now. Artisans will use clay, straw, and bamboo to transform the frame into a finished idol. This process honors generations of cultural heritage and technical skill. The ritual is a vital tradition. According to the report, "the Kathamo Khili Puja is an indispensable ritual before the crafting of the idol begins."
Preparations move fast. Beyond the idol, teams are planning pandal decorations, complex lighting setups, and various cultural programs. White kash flowers are already blooming in the autumn breeze. Conch shells signal the season has arrived. The community now prepares for the final unveiling of the Goddess as the festive rhythm takes hold of the region.
