Imphal: Manipur Police launched a series of statewide raids on July 29, arresting six people for crimes ranging from arms trafficking to drug offenses. Officers moved across several districts to dismantle local insurgent networks and illegal trade operations.
Police nabbed two women in Imphal East district for allegedly trafficking explosives. Ruhida Begum, 46, and 18-year-old Rohana Begum were stopped at Shanta Bazar under the Andro Police Station. Officers seized a hand grenade the pair intended to sell to a mystery buyer. The Manipur Police confirmed the capture, stating, "The duo had allegedly brought a hand grenade to Shanta Bazar with the intention of selling it to a prospective buyer."
In Kangpokpi district, authorities caught Aditya Dhakal, 25, near Motbung. He faced outstanding charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Senapati Police Station. Meanwhile, officers in Imphal East arrested Luwangthem Ronita Devi, 24, an alleged cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party. Thoubal district police also grabbed Maibam Rajkumar Singh, 28, a KCP military faction member, near National Highway-2.
The crackdown hit extortionists hard in Bishnupur. Police arrested Oinam Nikarson Singh, 27, at his Leimapokpam Mayai Leikai home. They found three receipt booklets and files listing state Health Department employees. Officers recovered a .45 NPB pistol, a magazine, and five live rounds from Moirangthem Sanjoy, 33, near the North AOC area in Imphal West. Sanjoy was wanted for a previous public shooting. Officials confirmed that investigations into these networks remain active as the security drive continues.
