Guwahati: Adani Airport Holdings Limited and The Indian Hotels Company Limited signed a deal to open eight hotels across four cities. This project adds over 2,000 rooms to India's travel market. Three of these hotels will land in Guwahati. They will operate under the Taj, Gateway, and Ginger brands.

These sites aim to serve business travelers, tourists, and transit passengers. Each location will feature dining, event spaces, and wellness centers. Adani Airport City Limited plans to spend over ₹20,000 crore in a first phase development. This massive project covers 22 million square feet across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati.

Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, noted the goal is to build up infrastructure near major airports. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL, explained the strategy behind the expansion. "Airport-linked developments were emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs as India’s aviation and tourism sectors expand," Chhatwal said.

The agreement focuses on integrated Airport City destinations. These will blend retail, commercial, and lifestyle infrastructure. The move strengthens Guwahati's position as a main gateway to the Northeast.
