Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager Chetan Kumar Srivastava inaugurated The Terminal, a new dining hub near Guwahati Railway Station. It opens to the public on November 1. The facility runs all day and all night.
Located across from the 240 Transit Camp, the site combines various dining and retail outlets. The menu spans Assamese specialties alongside North Indian, Chinese, and continental fare. Diners can also grab sweets or coffee. Several national chains will operate inside, including KFC, Domino’s, Subway, Costa Coffee, Baskin Robbins, Wow! Momo, and Belgian Waffles. The project expects to generate Rs 2.7 crore for Indian Railways.
The design draws on traditional Assamese architecture. It holds 250 people at once. "The Terminal aims to cater to needs of late-night travellers, railway passengers, people working night shifts and residents looking for dining options during the early morning hours," according to project organizers. The public-private partnership occupies the station’s circulating area to boost convenience for commuters.
