Imphal: Security forces tightened their grip on insurgent groups across Manipur. They captured three members of the People’s Liberation Army in back-to-back operations. The crackdown focused on high-level recruitment efforts and border security.

Officers from the Imphal East District Police moved into Khurai Puthiba Leikai on September 30. They arrested 46-year-old Nepram Singhajit Singh. Investigators claim Singh is an active cadre for the Revolutionary People’s Front and the PLA. He allegedly traveled to the area to buy bus tickets for moving new recruits toward Ukhrul.

Another team struck in Tengnoupal on September 29. Police and security forces worked together near Border Pillar 87 at Yangoupokpi. They grabbed two juvenile fighters affiliated with the PLA. An official report stated: "The apprehensions are part of ongoing security operations against insurgent groups in the state."

Police continue to ramp up pressure. They are conducting search operations throughout several districts. Recent police activity has led to the recovery of various arms and ammunition as the state targets militant infrastructure.

Beyond the crackdown on the PLA, security forces landed a bigger fish in Kamjong district. Acting on intelligence, troops set up a checkpoint in the Chandrakhong area on September 30 and detained 56-year-old Moirangthem Boboy Singh, a self-styled captain for the PRE-PAK (PRO). Singh allegedly admitted to smuggling four teenagers from Bishnupur across the border into Myanmar.

The dragnet extended to other criminal activity as well. In Churachandpur, police raided Khomoi village and cuffed 44-year-old Letginthang Haokip for shaking down locals under the guise of representing armed outfits. Officers seized a mobile phone and 10,000 rupees in cash from him. Meanwhile, Lilong police tracked down 21-year-old Md. Mustakim for a vehicle heist, recovering a stolen Honda Activa taken from the North AOC area in Imphal.
