Kohima: Continuous monsoon rains triggered dangerous ground sinking near the District Transport Office in Tuensang. Local officials confirmed the disaster forced 39 families to flee their homes for safer ground on July 23. No deaths occurred.
Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa chaired an emergency District Disaster Management Authority meeting at her office that same day. The session focused on the ongoing fallout from the storms. Road blockages and landslides plague the district.
Rutsa ordered the District Emergency Control Room to begin operations at the Circuit House immediately. Workers are currently preparing a relief camp to house displaced residents. The DC also checked the local supply of essential goods to ensure the district remains stocked.
Rutsa demanded a fast response from all local departments to prevent further trouble. She told stakeholders, "remain vigilant and respond promptly to ensure public safety."
