Heavy Vehicles Banned on Damaged Tuensang Highway

Kohima: Officials shut down a section of National Highway-202 near New Tsaru Village to heavy traffic today. Recent torrential rain triggered landslides that tore apart the road at Chainage 41.00 KM. The route is now dangerous. Tuensang Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa issued a travel advisory confirming the ban takes effect immediately.

Loaded commercial vehicles cannot pass. Only light motor vehicles may move through the damaged area, and drivers must exercise extreme caution. Officials warned that the stretch is currently unsafe for heavy loads.

Motorists looking for alternate routes should use the Thonger-Alisopur-Longmisa-Mokokchung Road, the Yangli-Yehemi Road, or the Tuensang-Longleng Road. The advisory stated the highway is "severely damaged, rendering the stretch unsafe and vulnerable to movement of heavy vehicles."
