Minister Timothy Shira to Lose Tourism Portfolio in Meghalaya Cabinet Reshuffle

Shillong: Cabinet Minister Timothy D. Shira is losing his charge of the Tourism department. He held the role for 14 months before the pending shift. New cabinet member Paul Lyngdoh will take over the portfolio. The Chief Minister expects to finalize the reshuffle this Wednesday.

Shira remains frustrated by the lack of communication. He learned of the move without a direct consultation from Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Despite the friction, Shira claims he remains a team player. He told reporters, "I would be satisfied with any responsibility assigned to me."

The veteran minister currently manages both Agriculture and Fisheries. He has not received word on any incoming assignments to replace the lost role. Shira expressed a clear personal attachment to the work he completed in Tourism during his brief tenure. Politics is unpredictable.

He dismissed the idea that senior leaders deserve preferential treatment over new cabinet inductees. Shira noted that the power to shift portfolios sits solely with the Chief Minister. He remains ready to work for the people in any capacity assigned to him once the formal changes take effect.
