Kohima: The National People’s Party wants a time-bound investigation into recent liquor deaths. Fatalities hit Mokokchung and Tuensang districts hard. NPP National Vice-President Vevoyi Wideo D Vadeo blasted the state government for a complete collapse of enforcement. Illegal booze flows freely in this dry state. The party demands police link up with Assam authorities to kill the supply chain. They want to find every source, supplier, and dealer involved in this deadly trade.
Accountability is non-negotiable. The party insists on legal action for anyone caught in the network. Evidence must drive the investigation. Officials should offer immediate relief to the families left behind. Public awareness campaigns need to start now. The party stated, "These are not isolated incidents... This points to a deep-rooted, organised illicit network and a systemic failure of the State machinery."
Ignoring the crisis is no longer an option. The NPP argues that protecting human life outweighs any political headache. State policy needs a hard look. Leaders must stop debating morality and start enforcing the law. The government has a constitutional duty to protect its citizens from poisoned products. Officials must act fast to prevent more deaths.
