School bus crash on Chare-Mokokchung road leaves one dead

Kohima: A school bus carrying 22 students and teachers crashed Wednesday morning. It happened around 6:30 am on the Chare-Mokokchung road. The vehicle was headed from Christ King School in Angangba village to a study tour in Mopungchuket village when it went down near a bridge. The handyman died in the wreck. Several students suffered injuries.

The Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society confirmed the fatality in a public statement. "The bus met with an accident near a bridge along the Chare-Mokokchung road resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to several others," the group stated. They also expressed their sympathy to the grieving family.

Rescuers rushed the wounded to Lenjem Hospital in Mokokchung. Medical staff there are currently treating the survivors. Members of the Sangtam Union in Mokokchung visited the site and the hospital to monitor the situation. The community continues to offer support to the affected families from Longkhim and Tuensang.
