Tuensang landslide victims receive emergency financial aid

Kohima: Sixty-three families in Tuensang got a cash boost on October 17. Landslides hit the IOC Colony and Post Office Sector, forcing the 53 A/C Mandal Tuensang Sadar-1 to step in. The money came from Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton. Officials handed out the aid at the home of Housing and Mechanical Engineering Minister P Bashangmongba Chang.

Yanger, the local Mandal president, thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for his quick response during a tough time. He stated, "The gesture reflected the Deputy Chief Minister's concern for people facing difficult circumstances and his commitment to inclusivity." The BJP Tuensang unit also voiced support for the displaced families.

Pukho Khiam, the working president, warned that monsoons bring unpredictable disasters. He pushed residents to fix their drainage systems and stay alert, as poor drainage often makes slide risks worse. Mahila president Temsula Sangtam asked the town to ditch politics and focus on development. She noted the hilly ground and constant rain keep the district in danger. The event wrapped up after leaders from the IOC Colony Union and Post Office Sector Union helped organize the local families.
