Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church Hosts Youth Retreat

Kohima: The Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church brought youth from D Block and Bayavu together for an Awaken retreat. The event took place October 19 at Awo Ki, situated across from Congress Bhavan in Kohima. Organizers based the session on 1 Thessalonians 5:6.

Dr. Albert M Chawang, a faculty member at North East Christian University in Dimapur, served as the primary resource person. He pushed the attendees to stay alert and clear-headed. Chawang quoted the scripture directly: "Let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober."

Chawang addressed the heavy pressures weighing on the modern generation. He pointed to the fear of failure, the struggle to fit into social groups, and rising anxiety. He argued that God calls people to service regardless of their age or current qualifications. The speaker urged the group to ditch complacency and anger in favor of prayer, honesty, and integrity.

The sermon compared the eventual return of the Lord to a thief in the night. He warned against wasting time on self-indulgence, demanding that the youth remain faithful and active in their spiritual work. Youth Pastor Kungkam and Youth President Withuiliu managed the day's program.
