Kohima: Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church branches in D. Block and Bayavu held a youth retreat on October 19. The event took place at Awo Ki, situated across from Congress Bhavan in Kohima. Organizers chose the theme Awaken, drawing inspiration from the biblical passage 1 Thessalonians 5:6.

Dr. Albert M. Chawang, a faculty member at North East Christian University in Dimapur, served as the primary speaker. He linked scripture to the heavy burdens modern youth carry. He told the attendees that young people frequently face intense pressure, crippling fear of failure, and social anxiety. Despite these hurdles, he offered a direct message of encouragement. He stated, “God does not wait until you are older or fully qualified to use you.”

Dr. Chawang pushed the congregation to maintain spiritual alertness. He warned against moral laziness and reactive anger. He instead urged the participants to choose prayer, honesty, and integrity in their work and relationships. Referencing the unpredictable nature of the Day of the Lord, he described it as arriving “like a thief in the night.” He insisted that staying ready requires active faithfulness rather than self-indulgence. The event was put together by youth pastor Kungkam and youth president Withuiliu.
