Kohima: The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum plans a Rally for Religious Freedom. It hits the Khuochiezie Local Ground in Kohima on September 12. The event starts at 11 a.m. and runs for exactly one hour. Organizers aim to protest proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, or FCRA. They fear these changes will hurt church ministries and essential services.
Leaders finalized the plans during an August 19 meeting at Khedi Baptist Church in Kohima Village. Heads of various denominations and Christian organizations attended the session. The forum intends to use the gathering to reaffirm its stance on secular democracy and the Constitution of India. They also hope to seek divine intervention for the nation.
Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao serves as the organizing committee convenor. He works alongside NJCF president Rev. Dr. N. Paphino and general secretary Rev. Moses Murry. The group invites all pastors, mission organizations, theological institutions, and church members from across Nagaland to join the prayer meeting. The forum issued a direct message to the community: "Let us come together for one hour to pray as one people for our faith, our churches, and our nation."
