Kohima: The Nepali Baptist Church in Kohima finished its three-day Golden Jubilee celebration on Sunday. The event spanned July 31 to August 2. Church leaders urged the congregation to build upon the spiritual foundation set by pioneers over the last 50 years. They asked members to stay faithful to God.
Dr. Gopal Basnet Chetri, the convener of the organizing committee, led the morning Jubilee Devotion Service. Rev. Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo of the Angami Baptist Church Council delivered the primary message. He preached from Joshua 24. Vihienuo described the congregation as a "matured church." He said this milestone marks a time for deeper commitment rather than complacency.
The morning service featured Psalm 103:1-2 readings. Founding members Loknath Sharma and Thungdeno Mezhür Sekhose offered greetings. The Jubilee Choir and Zeme Baptist Church performed special numbers. Attendees reaffirmed the church motto, To Reach the Unreached, through prayer. A feast followed the morning session.
Moon Thapa led the afternoon valedictory service. Pastor Visato Yhoshü of Union Baptist Church delivered the final address. He called on the members to remain rooted in scripture and maintain unity. Chupaman Rai offered the invocation. Evangelist Nil Tamang of Assam read scripture in Nepali, while Rachel Thapa read in English.
Thejao Vihienuo, president of the Angami Public Organisation, and former pastor Rev. Muktinath Sharma shared greetings. The event ended with the Jubilee Hymn, words of thanks from Narayan Bahadur, and a benediction by Elizabeth Giri. A final fellowship dinner closed the festivities.
