Kohima Police Arrest Two NSCN-K Cadres for Highway Extortion

Kohima: Kohima Police caught two NSCN/GPRN-K cadres red-handed on July 25. They were shaking down truck drivers on National Highway-29. Officers identified the suspects as 37-year-old Beilie Rupreo, a self-styled Lieutenant, and 39-year-old Kevingulie Metha, a self-styled Corporal.

Authorities moved fast. They received "credible information" regarding the extortion at 11:40 hrs. A police unit sped to the location near the New SKV Petrol Pump in Merhülietsa Colony. The officers watched the pair from the shadows before moving in to make the arrests.

A search of the suspects turned up a stack of illegal extortion slips. These documents displayed the name of the Government of the People's Republic of Nagaland Finance Committee. The South Police Station registered a case against both men. Investigators are now grilling the duo to identify other operatives, financiers, and links to rackets in neighboring districts.

Police officials promised to keep the district safe from intimidation. They urged traders, transporters, and regular citizens to report any illegal demands immediately. The department guaranteed that the identity of any informant or complainant will remain strictly confidential.
