Kohima: Nagaland Police confiscated 581.520 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor during raids on October 14. Officers targeted suspected storage sites and retail outlets in Medziphema and the Chümoukedima district. The sweep followed multiple complaints from locals about unauthorized booze sales. Police tracked the inventory to Medziphema Town Junction, Jharnapani Junction, and spots flanking National Highway 29.

Authorities detained two people during the operation. Both were eventually released on personal recognisance bonds. The police headquarters stated on October 15 that they are now pushing ahead with legal proceedings. According to the official press release, the operation functions as part of a wider effort to enforce the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989. The force wants more help from the public. Residents should report illegal storage or sales to the authorities immediately.
