Kohima: Kolkata police arrested 56-year-old Palash Roy on Sunday for molesting two women at a city five-star hotel. The incident occurred Saturday night between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. in the hotel lobby. He was caught. The suspect resides at Lotus Boulevard, Sector 100, Noida, in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
A woman from Dimapur, Nagaland, filed the complaint. She and her companion were celebrating with the Brazilian football team when a stranger touched them inappropriately. The team had visited the hotel following their four-goal victory against India at Salt Lake Stadium earlier that day.
Pragati Maidan police station officers registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Detectives matched the complainant’s description against hotel security recordings to identify the man. The victims confirmed his identity after viewing the same clips.
Kolkata Police Additional Commissioner Kunal Agarwal confirmed the ongoing probe. "CCTV footage of the hotel is being examined. Appropriate action will be taken after investigating the entire matter." Police tracked the suspect’s movements throughout the building before taking him into custody in one of the rooms.
