Kohima: The Kiphire District Gaon Buras Association is fighting back against a short-term maintenance contract for National Highway-202. They sent a formal protest to the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire on August 19. Association President K Tsilise and General Secretary Hopise signed the document. They want long-term, equitable road development instead of quick patches.
Kiphire suffers from constant neglect. While other districts across Nagaland enjoy modern two-lane and four-lane networks, Kiphire struggles with basic connectivity. The association argues this disparity causes severe public hardship. They claim these infrastructure choices ignore the principles of fairness and balanced regional growth. Every citizen deserves safe, reliable access to the road network.
The group demands transparency in government planning. They insist that constitutional equality requires proper infrastructure for all regions. The formal submission states, "every citizen is entitled to safe connectivity and constitutional equality." The elders urged the Deputy Commissioner to take this grassroots anger to higher authorities immediately. They want the current maintenance deal scrapped in favor of permanent improvements that serve the public interest.
